This authentic rural household in West Serbia, with members of three generations, is located at the altitude of 450 meters, at the very edge and the highest point of Zlakusa village, about 700 meters above the Terzica avlija traditional settlement, in the close vicinity of the well-marked hiking path that leads through the thick forests to the Drežnička Gradina peak /937 meters/ and further along 22 km through forests and meadows to Sirogojno village. Diligent hosts are engaged in agriculture and produce exceptionally tasty food – kaymak and cheese, smoked hams, paprika and rakija. The large estate is surrounded with forest and raspberry fields, so provides excellent conditions for active vacations and invigoration in the pure nature.
The separate part of the house is at guests disposal, which is located above the summer kitchen and the bakery, where skilled hosts prepare delicious traditional food. On the first floor of the rural house there are two bedroom – a double and a triple room, with shared usage of a bathroom, that are very suitable for family vacations, because two beds can be extended. As per habit, on the Christmas and the New Year Eve, inhabitants of Zlakusa village ride carriages pulled by horses or tractors or walk along the village celebrating. Each season is worth-spending in the nice village of Zlakusa, and provides various experiences : it is very recommendable to come here in spring, to soak all the fresh essences and fragrant of the intact nature, in summer guests can take part in mowing, making hays or picking up fruits and forest products, or preparing pickles for winter, while in autumn one can enjoy in numerous traditional festivals and music events or collecting woods for winter, or making rakija in traditional way, while winter is good for joyful activities – sledging or making snow man, smoking ham or preparing medicinal juices and getting close to the authentic and simple life of locals. Beside those activities, visitors enjoy in visit to the Potpec Pecina Cave, or authentic potters whose skills and unique ceramic pots made the Zlakusa village widely renown.
