SUTJESKA NATIONAL PARK, BUNA RIVER SOURCE, BLAGAJ, MOSTAR, JAJCE, MECAVNIK WOODEN TOWN, BELGRADE

Day 1 Start Sarajevo, Sutjeska National Park

Arrival to Sarajevo and tour of the places known for WWII in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ride to Sutjeska, the oldest National Park in Bosnia that took very important role in Yugoslav history and partisan movement because one of the greatest WWII battles actually happened here. After lunch visit the main monument in the heart of Sutjeska National Park and a grave of one of the most famous commanders of the Sutjeska battle, Sava Kovacevic. Tour of the place where Supreme Commander Josip broz Tito was wounded. At the end of the day we turn back to hotel in the gorgeous Tjentiste valley. Hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.

Day 2 Sutjeska – Mostar, Mostar city tour

After breakfast before laeving to Mostar ride to Dragos Sedlo, a place where some of the hardest battles during Nazi offensive happened offering colorful view on complete Sutjeska River valley and one of two remaining medieval forests in Europe – Perucica with impressive Skakavac waterfall. Morning history lessons and transfer from Sutjeska Park (approximatelly 3 hours) to stunning Mostar which was founded in the 15th century. The architecture is a precious combination of Turkish ingenuity and Herzegovina’s and Dalmatian workmanship. Undoubtedly, you have heard much about this city, which was split during the conflict in the early 1990s. The scars of war are still visible but these days Mostar is once again a warm and bustling place with a fascinating history. After lunch we take a short 15 minute drive to the nearby village of Blagaj to explore its highlights – amazing Buna River Spring and the adjacent Ottoman house/monastery. The Ottoman sultan was impressed with the majestic springs and ordered a Tekija to be built right next to it. This 16th century house/monastery was built for the Dervish cults and is still one of the most mystical places in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Return to Mostar for the evening. Hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.

Day 3 Mostar – Jablanica – Jajce

Leaving the Mostar behind us and after an hour of drive visit Jablanica, the place where in April 1943 there was a huge offensive by German troops. The Germans aimed to destroy the central command of the Partisan movement, the Central Committee of Communist party of Yugoslavia, as well as the main Partisan hospital. The remains of this historical site are still visible on the banks of Neretva River. Drive on to Jajce, picturesque place in North-western Bosnia, where Socialist Yugoslavia was born in November 1943 and the candidate for UNESCO Cultural Heritage list. Short walk around the walls of this ancient town. Hotel accommodation in Jajce, dinner, overnight.

Day 4 Jajce – Mecavnik Kustendorf Wooden Town

After breakfast we finish our Bosnian AVNOJ trip. Drive to Serbia passing beautiful scenery with stopover in Visegrad for visit to the famous Old Bridge over Drina River which inspired best known Nobel Writers Prize Ivo Andric who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1961. Lunch on route. Arrival to Mecavnik Wooden-town Film Academy and traditional settlement established by famous film director Emir Kusturica and accommodation in luxurious wooden chalets. Short film projection and tour of this famous cultural sight known for film festivals and shocking artistic exhibitions. Dinner, overnight.

Day 5  Mecavnik – Belgrade

After breakfast drive to Uzice /former town named after Tito/ and visit to the Museum of Revolution with performance. Drive to Belgrade with stopover in beautiful Ovcar-Kablar Gorge for brake and lunch photo-shooting. Accommodation in Belgrade hotel Srbija, dinner, overnight.

Day 6 Belgrade – Belgrade city tour and the Museum of Yugoslav History

After breakfast half day city tour ending at the Museum of Yugoslav History where numerous partisan objects, Tito’s relays-The Youth relays and historical artifacts are exposed. Lunch. Afternoon free for individual program. Traditional dinner in restaurant in Skadarlija famous bohemian quarter of Belgrade with live music. Overnight.

Day 7 Belgrade departure

After breakfast free time before departure transfer to Belgrade Airport and departure flight. End of program and services.
