Departure 05 – 15 AUGUST 2016

Day 1 Belgrade

Arrival to Belgrade and transfer by coach to centrally located hotel and accommodation. Afternoon sightseeing of Belgrade : Princess Ljubica Manor, Republic Square, Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Archangel Michael, Kalemegdan Fortress with romantic vista of the Sava and the Danube Rivers confluence… Dinner and overnight.

Day 2 Fruska Gora National Park/Monasteries and Novi Sad

After breakfast full-day excursion to Fruska Gora National Park and Novi Sad. Drive along beautiful slopes of Fruska Gora Mt to Hopovo Monastery /17th century/ and sightseeing. Continue to Perko’s Farm, featuring magnificent panorama for rustic traditional lunch. Drive on to Sremski Karlovci, the spiritual and cultural center of Serbs and sightseeing of the beautiful baroque center – Patriarchal Residence, Four Lions Fountain, Gymnasium, St Nicholas Church… Continue to Novi Sad, capital of Vojvodina Province and walk along the downtown – The City Hall, Cathedral, Liberty Square… Drive back to Belgrade. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Morava River Valley

After breakfast drive to Smederevo and tour of the magnificent Medieval fortification. Continue to Manasija Monastery, featuring wonderful frescoes and architecture of Morava School. Sightseeing. Break for traditional lunch. Continue to Ravanica Monastery /14th century/, one of the best examples of Morava School of architecture and sightseeing. Drive on to Kalenic Monastery and accommodation in monastic Dormitory. Touring the unique sculptural decoration and frescoes of Kalenic Monastery. Monastic or traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 4 Ljubostinja Monastery – Zica Monastery – Studenica Monastery

After breakfast drive to Ljubostinja Monastery /14th century/ and sightseeing. Drive on to Zica Monastery /13th century/ and sightseeing of its frescoes. Break for traditional lunch. Continue along the Ibar River Valley, known as the Kings Valley for numerous Medieval Monasteries and churches built in Rashka architectural style along its course to Studenica Monastery. Sightseeing of the Studenica Medieval complex of three churches – UNESCO Heritage. Accommodation in Studenica Monastery Dormitory. Monastic or traditional dinner, with monastic wine tasting. Overnight.

Day 5 Gradac Monastery – Stara and Nova Pavlica Monastery – Novi Pazar

After breakfast drive to Gradac Monastery, endowment of Queen Helen of Anjou and sightseeing. Continue to Stara Pavlica Church /11th century/ and further to Nova Pavlica Monastery /14th century/ and sightseeing. Break for traditional lunch. Drive on to Novi Pazar, the most Oriental town in Serbia and hotel accommodation. Visit to the Ras Museum and walk to the old Bazaar and market. Dinner, overnight.

Day 6 St Peters Church-St George Pillars – Sopocani Monastery

After breakfast tour of the St Peters Church – the oldest church in the Balkans, UNESCO Heritage. Continue to Djurdjevi Stupovi – St George s Pillars Monastery – 12th century, UNESCO Heritage, dominating over Novi Pazar. Break for traditional lunch. Drive along Raska River to Sopocani Monastery and touring the St Trinity Church, UNESCO Heritage, featuring most frescoes that are considered peak of the Medieval paintings. Dinner, overnight.

Day 7 Gračanica Monastery – Prizren

After breakfast drive to Kosovo and Metohija to Pristina and tour of the Gračanica Monastery – 14th century. Break for traditional lunch. Drive to Prizren, the most beautiful town in Kosovo and Metohija and hotel accommodation. Sightseeing of the Holy Virgin of Ljevish Church – UNESCO Heritage -12th century and the old quarter with the famous Sadrvan fountain and Old Bridge. Visit to the Filigree workshop with presentation of traditional way of high quality hand-crafted jewelry manufacture, using centuries old techniques. Visitors are welcome to browse through the unique handmade gifts and artworks on display and sale at the Filigree Shop. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 8 Dečani Monastery – Peć Patriarchate – Rožaje

After breakfast drive to Dečani Monastery, the most majestic Serbian Medieval Monastery, UNESCO Heritage, the 14th century, featuring wonderful fresco compositions and brilliant architecture and sightseeing. Drive on to Peć and sightseeing of the Peć Patriarchate complex of four Medieval churches, wonderfully decorated with frescoes. Break for lunch. Short walk through the Peć Bazaar. Drive to Montenegro, along wonderful mountainous scenery of Hajla Mountain and its high peaks providing breathtaking panorama. Hotel accommodation in Rožaje/Berane, dinner, overnight.

Day 9 Morača Monastery – Podgorica – Cetinje

After breakfast drive along wonderful landscape of northern Montenegro to Morača Monastery – 13th century and sightseeing. Drive on via Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro to Cetinje, historical capital of Montenegro. Break for traditional lunch. Sightseeing of Cetinje Historical and Ethnographic Museum. Accommodation in hotel in intact nature. Dinner, overnight.

Day 10 Lovćen Mausoleum-NP – Kotor – Podgorica

After breakfast drive along Lovćen National Park which provide spectacular vistas of surrounding mountain peaks. Climbing up 461 stairs to the Mausoleum of Petar Petrovic Njegoš, chosen by eminent poet and philosopher for his rest, from where spreads magic panorama to Kotor Bay. Break for lunch in katuns – traditional cottages – summer settlements of cattle-breeders, famous for uniquely delicious smoked ham production, that represent interesting ethnographic facilities. Drive to Kotor, UNESCO town-museum and sightseeing of St Typhon Cathedral – 12th century and its beautiful palaces and squares. Drive to Podgorica and hotel accommodation. Dinner, overnight.

Day 11 Podgorica – Belgrade – departure

After breakfast time at leisure until transfer to Podgorica Airport. Departure flight and end of program and services.
