GLIMPSE OF SERBIA – MACEDONIA – BULGARIA – Cultural Tour

Day 1 Morning departure from Belgrade and drive along highway via Nis and Leskovac and Vranje to Prohor Pcinjski Monastery. Accommodation in luxurious monastery dormitories located next to the Monastery in beautiful natural setting of Kozjak Mountain. Tour of Prohor Pcinjski Monastery /11th century/. “Monastic” dinner, overnight.

Day 2 After breakfast departure to Macedonia and tour of St George Monastery in Staro Nagoricane village /11th century/ which is one of the best examples of Byzantine architecture. Drive on to Kokino megalithic observatory and sightseeing of this unique archaeological site. Drive on along the Eastern Macedonia and accommodation in monastery dormitories of Saint Joachim Osogovski Monastery in Kriva Palanka on slopes of Osogovo Mountain. Tour of the monastery. “Monastic” dinner, overnight.

Day 3 After breakfast drive to the Monastery of Saint Gabriel in Lesnovo village, which is the largest and best preserved amongst Byzantine endowments of the 14th century in the Balkans. Sightseeing. Drive on to Bulgaria and visit to the magnificent Rila Monastery /10th century/. Drive on to Sofia and hotel accommodation. Traditional dinner. Evening walk through the city center. Overnight.

Day 4 After breakfast Sofia city tour : Saint George Rotunda /4th century/, St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral /1912/, Boyana Church /13th century/, Church of Saint Sophia, St Nicholas Church, St Nedelya Church…. Free time at leisure. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 5 After breakfast drive along beautiful landscape to Serbia. Tour of St John the Theologian Monastery /14th century/ located in the secluded ambiance of Poganovo village. Walking tour along gorgeous Jerma River Canyon, the beautiful valley that follows the course of the river providing one of the most fascinating scenery of Serbia. Drive to Pirot and hotel accommodation. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 6 After breakfast visit to the Museum of Ponisavlje in Pirot located in the dwelling of authentic Oriental architecture. Visit to the hand-weaving rug workshop which is the most significant and world famous brand of Pirot and surroundings. Drive along beautiful Sicevo Gorge to Nis and further to Belgrade. Late evening arrival to Belgrade and end of program.
