Fantastic Kosovo and Metohija Tour

Multi day Serbia Monastery Tour – Zica Monastery, Studenica Monastery, Ras Museum, St Peters and Pauls Church, Djurdjevi Stupovi Monastery – Saint George Pillars Monastery, Sopocani Monastery, Banjska Monastery, Sokolica Monastery, Gracanica Monastery, Holy Archangels Monastery, Holy Virgin of Ljevish Church, Visoki Decani Monastery, Pec Patriarchate Complex, Mileseva Monastery.

Day 1 Morning departure from Belgrade and drive southwards along Belgrade-Nis highway and passing by Kragujevac and Kraljevo to Zica Monastery. Visit to the Monastery Complex and short brake in beautiful garden surrounding the shrine. Drive on to Studenica Monastery, the magnificent principal endowment of Stefan Nemanya, the minded and most powerful ruler of Serbian Medieval State, situated in the beautiful valley of Studenica River. Accommodation in Monastery Dormitory /3 stars hotel quality of accommodation/ monastic dinner, overnight.

Day 2 After breakfast drive along the Kings Valley /Ibar River Valley/ to Novi Pazar. Visit to Ras Museum, St. Peter’s and Paul’s Church and Djurdjevi Stupovi Monastery, the endowment of Stefan Nemanya, once the seat of powerful Serbian medieval State. Drive on along Raska River Valley to Sopocani Monastery and tour of the magnificent world famous frescoes. Drive on to Kosovo and Metohija and visit to Banjska Monastery. Continue to Kosovska Mitrovica, town divided between banks of Ibar River and hotel accommodation. Drive to Sokolica Monastery, tiny shrine situated on the hawks nest high in the mountains, famous for marble sculpture of the Holy Virgin with the Christ child and wonderful frescoes painted by Mother Makarija. Sightseeing. Return to Kosovska Mitrovica and short walk along the Ibar River banks. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 3 After breakfast drive to Pristina and further to Gracanica Monastery /13th century/, one of the best examples of the Byzantine architecture. Sightseeing. Drive on to Prizren, via beautiful Shar Mountain and National Park with break for refreshment and sightseeing of the Holy Archangels Monastery in the valley of Prizrenska Bistrica River. Arrival to Prizren, the most beautiful town in Kosovo and Metohija and hotel accommodation. Tour of the Holy Virgin of Ljevish Church /UNESCO heritage/ and the Old quarter. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 4 After breakfast drive to Pec with stop over in Visoki Decani Monastery, the most majestic Serbian Medieval Monastery, built by Serbian King Stefan Decanski in the 13th century, featuring about 10000 magnificent fresco depictions. Drive on to Pec Patriarchate and sightseeing of the Medieval Complex of four Medieval churches with magnificent frescoes. Continue to Montenegro along gorgeous scenery. Drive via Rozaje and Berane and Bijelo Polje to Prijepolje. Accommodation in Mileseva Monastery Dormitory /rooms with facilities/. “Monastic dinner”, overnight.

Day 5 After breakfast tour of Mileseva Monastery, famous for its fresco of White Angel. Continue to Belgrade via Zlatibor Mountain and break for refreshment. Late evening arrival and end of program.
