Spasojevic Family Rural Tourism Pansion Doboj

Ozren is mountain which spreads on the area of several municipalities of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Petrovo, Doboj, Maglaj, Gracanica, Lukavac, Banovici and Zavidovici. Ozren Mountain is beautiful and tranquil mountain in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the area of lower mountains, between the river intersection of the Bosnia River to the west and the Spreca River to the north, very suitable for various outdoor activities – hiking, mountaineering, gliding, mountain bike riding, bathing in curative thermal waters…. Ozren Mountain further spreads direction south-east, following the course of the beautiful Krivaja River, and joins with the forested Konjuh Mountain, while its eastern slopes descent to the Modrac Lake. The highest peak of the Ozren Mountain is Velika Ostravica, 918m. Other peaks of Ozren Mountain are Krstata Ploca /893 m/, Kraljica /883 m/, Bojiste /848 m/, Preslica and so on. On the Kraljica top there is the monument dedicated to the soldiers of Republika Srpska killed during the NATO bombardment on 07th September 1995. Ozren Mountain features spacious clearings, lush pastures, thermal springs, mountainous streams and numerous tiny rivers which wind through pine and oak forests. Climate of the Ozren Mountain is moderate continental, with warm summer sand cold and harsh winters. According to a legend, when Queen Katarina escaped from enemies, she reached the mountain top, and when turned around her, noticed the beauty of surroundings, she exclaimed: „Oh My God, what a majestic “obazraj” !” Later from this expression, locals created the name of the Ozren Mountain, which is used until the present. Once there were stories told and spread to new generations about the Ozren Mountain springs and their curative effects. Today one can see locals who separately pour and drink waters from the Ozren Mountain springs, or from a bottling plant on the Prenja River. Only in the Osojnica village there are more than 25 springs which testify on the purity of the environment in this area. Waters from the “Vukeljina voda” and the “Krnjih točak” springs refresh visitors with its coolness and freshness of the taste of the clean and healthy mountain waters, while the spring alkaline water is excellent as the medicament against the skin diseases and kidney illnesses. Thermal hydro-carbonate waters of the Terme Ozren in Kakmuž village, rich in Calcium, Natrium and Magnesium, were examined and results prove its curative effects for rheumatism, psoriasis, sinus illnesses, spinal  degeneration, high blood pressure and other diseases, what is very well known to all visitors who constantly and persistently come here for the health treatments. Terme Ozren compound is the open-air complex which contains the large pool, with water temperature nearly 40°C, small pool and children playground, spacious grass beach and barbecue spot.
The family house of the Spasojevic Family in the village of Pridjel has been turned into pension for receiving visitors in 2 apartments, of total accommodation capacity of 10 beds, with possibility for adding 2 more extra beds. The Spasojević Pension-Apartments are located in the Pridjel village, on the 5th km of the main road which leads from Doboj to the Preslica and Okolista excursion resorts. The Spasojevic Pension Apartment with 4 beds is located on the first floor, while the 6 beds apartment is arranged in the attic room of the family house. The ground apartment features 4 beds in two separate rooms, big kitchen and dining room, big terrace, toilet with shower. The Studio apartment contains 6 beds, small kitchen, fire place with sofa and sitting space, toilet with shower, wash machine, big terrace. Apartments are equipped with central heating, spacious living room with nice wooden furniture and the fire place, and fully equipped kitchen and comfortable bathrooms. Accommodation of this rural tourist household at the foot of the Ozren Mountain provide premium conditions for pleasant stay of organized groups of hunters, cyclers, nature- and recreation- lovers. Amenities and activities during stay at the Spasojevic Pension in the Pridjel village are enriched with experiences at the tavern where finest traditional food is served, prepared by hosts from the locally grown produce – grilled meat /roštilj/, roasted pork or piglet, dishes cooked in ceramic pots, as well as the famous „Rosini kolači” /cakes of Rosa/. At the basement there is the rakia cellar, which is one of the most favorite place of visitors. Here is also the large summer garden which is often used by all visitors keen to discover the benefits of relaxation and invigoration in the original and friendly rural ambiance. In the area of the Ozren Mountain there is rich tradition of health food performance, as the locals are involved in husbandry and agricultural production. Fruits of this area bring wealth of a harvest, and is for generations processed and dried in traditional way. This tradition is exceptionally maintained by the diligent Spasojevic Family members, who successfully produce homemade rakias of plum, apple, pear, quince, nuts, herbs and other kinds of fruits of extraordinary quality, which make special joys to visitors.
Petrovo was once the mining settlement and nowadays the largest settlement in the Ozren Mountain area. Petrovo is located in the north-east foothill of the tranquil Ozren Mountain, along the left bank of the Spreča River. The area of Petrovo settlement is rich in mineral resources /asbestos, kaolin/ and thermal and alkaline waters, and also in some, still unexplored, metal resources. The Petrovo Municipality nowadays develop tourism on the gorgeous slopes of the Ozren Mountain. Locals of the Petrovo Municipality pay special attention to the maintaining of the unique Ozren Mountain singing of old songs, famous Ozren dances, and traditional costumes, and also in celebration of large patron’s feasts, on the 31 July in the Kakmuz village and the Holy Virgin patron’s day on 28th August, which is celebrated around the Monastery of Saint Nicholas on Ozren Mountain. The orthodox Monastery of Saint Nicholas is endowment of the Serbian king Dragutin from the 13th century, who ruled this area in the Middle ages. Saint Nicholas Monastery is located 7 km sough of Petrovo village, in the beautiful mountainous environment through which flows the majestic Jadrina River. In 2003 the Saint Nicholas Monastery on Ozren Mountain was proclaimed the national monument of culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Rastuša cave has rich artifacts dating back some 130,000 years, reaching to the Ice Age and human race predecessors Neanderthals. Not far from the Rastuša cave there is a magnificent Liplje Orthodox monastery from the 14th century, whose architecture makes it one of the most beautiful spiritual buildings in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Liplje Monastery is situated in the pleasing surroundings and is open to public.
