Day 1 Vujan Monastery – Stara Pavlica Church – Nova Pavlica Monastery – Gradac Monastery – Studenica Monastery
Early morning departure from Belgrade and drive along beautiful Sumadija scenery towards Cacak. Short brake in Vujan Monastery for refreshment and sightseeing the tranquil spiritual nest from the 16th century. Drive on through the “Kings’ Valley” to Stara Pavlica Monastery /Old Pavlica Monastery/ from the 12th century, famous for its harmonic architecture and unique location above the Ibar River. Drive on to Gradac Monastery, the endowment of Queen’s Helen of Anjou, the wife of King Uroš I settled in intact nature. Tour of Gradac Monastery followed by folklore performance/presentation of icon painting techniques. Drive to the summit of Radocelo Mountain to Rudno village and home-made lunch while enjoying stunning panorama. Late afternoon accommodation in dormitory of Studenica Monastery, “monastic dinner”, overnight /quality of accommodation like 3 stars hotel, special regime of behaviour/.
Day 2 Zica Monastery – Royal Mausoleum Oplenac – Belgrade
After breakfast tour of Studenica Monastery Medieval Complex – The Church of the Virgin Mary, The King’s Church, the Treasury. Drive to Zica Monastery and sightseeing of the joint endowment of King Stefan the First-crowned and his brother Saint Sava, the former seat of the Serbian autonomous Archbishopric built in 1218. Drive to Arandjelovac and traditional lunch. Visit to the Royal Family Complex and Mausoleum on Oplenac Hill with tour of gorgeous Saint George Orthodox Cathedral situated in beautiful park. Drive to Belgrade and evening arrival, end of program.
