The Rudo Municipality is small mountainous settlement located in the easternmost part of the Republika Srpska, 23 km west of town of Priboj /in Serbia/ and some 35 km south of Višegrad /Bosnia and Herzegovina/, close to the three-borders area between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. The Rudo Municipality features clear mountainous air and excellent water and wonderful nature which decorate the surrounding villages engaged in rural tourism and provide excellent conditions for outdoor activities and true vacations /water sports, hiking, mountaineering, mount-biking, rural tourism,…/ The Rudo Municipality is rich in historical monuments and heritage sites including numerous necropolis of stecak tomb stones that are not fully researched. The whole area of Rudo is connected with the name and assets of Mehmed pasha Sokolovic who was born in nearby Sokolovici village on which testify several monuments on legacy of this important ruler and benefactor of the Bridge over the Drina River in Visegrad. Other monuments are monasteries, churches, mosques and historical memorials from the First and the Second World War.
In Rudo Municipality they develop the hunting and river and fishing and rural tourism. Lim River is rich in fish and makes outstanding fishing destination but also the rafting place thanks to numerous speeds and cascades that enchant nature lovers, rafters and kayakers. The traditional Lim River biathlon which combines rafting along the Lim River course of 33 km with mountain biking is traditionally organized in Rudo. There has been built a boat bearing the name of Vodeni Ciro – the Water Ciro that resembles the old steam-boats and the narrow-gauge Ciro train that was the earliest train in the former Yugoslavia. Boat ride with the Vodeni Ciro – the Water Ciro facility is organized along the emerald Lim river course between Setihovo-Strgacina-Brodar-Medjedja-Ustipraca points and provides memorable experience of intact nature and spectacular river canyon.
