Rafting on Lim River 2

Day 1

Direct train Novi Sad/Belgrade – Prijepolje /2.class seats/ departure at 9,28 p.m. and night train ride, early morning arrival to Prijepolje at 4,00. Cordial highlanders welcome : fresh home-made bread with kaymak and medicinal plants tea with introductory rules from the logistics team.

Coach drive to the Vodena poljana mountain cottage, situated at the altitude of 1500 meters, deep in the conifer forests and fragrant meadows in the very heart of Zlatar mountain, known as “the revitalizing spa”. Continue through the beautiful Zlatar Mountain landscape to Akmacici village and Gujanicic and Komarani hamlets to be warmly welcomed by the most enthusiastic people with great smile and big heart, living exactly at the griffin vulture cliff. “The house at the griffon cliff” is the genuine mountainous home-stay built by highlanders devoted to the nature and its invigorating and rough characteristics over 1.200 m above sea level, to resist from heavy shows, winds or sunny rays. During harsh winters the whole area becomes the challenge even for the bravest visitors, when the snow cover is blended with the horizon. In the nearest vicinity there are griffin vulture natural habitats situated on descent cliffs overlooking the spectacular Uvac canyon 1 km depth, justifying pure preserved nature with its unique features : clear water springs, fresh air, wilderness tranquility only randomly disturbed by some insects or the griffin vulture wings sounds when exploring the heights. Photo shooting in Uvac Canyon – the most distinctive and mysterious canyons of Europe which is delightful experience for wilderness lovers that often ends with observation of the distinct white headed griffin vulture which is widely admired for its striking appearance and 3 m wing span. Short highlanders refreshment :home-made honey and fresh-drinking water.

Coach drive to Zlatar Lake and 1 hour boat ride along the third largest lake in Serbia, covering surface of 7,25 km2 at the altitude of 880m. Drive to Mileseva Monastery, the endowment of King Vladislav built in 1218 housing the world-known fresco »The White Angel« of exceptional beauty and spirituality. Monastic lunch and sightseeing of the former pilgrimage where the holy relics of St.Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church were kept. Trekking trip to the nearby Milesevka River Canyon with dramatic climb up to the ascetic cells on a high limestone cliff above the Mileseva River. Those hermitages are placed in the inaccesible locations being the most distinctive spiritual nests for prays, allowing monks to withdraw from the world and bring them closer to God. Such hermitages founded by Holy St.Sava as the primary educational schools where plenty of books and miniatures were copied and decorated with hand-written manuscrips could be only found in Greece at Mount Athos flourishing the ecclesiastical and ritual arts and works. Afternoon drive via Prijepolje to Kamena Gora village and accommodation in households by hospitable hosts. Traditional organic dinner by fire place and overnight.

Day 2

After home-made breakfast invigorating walk up to the Holy spruce and the Kamena Gora peak with breathtaking panoramic views to Zlatar, Javor, Jadovnik, Zlatibor, Golija, Savin Kuk mountain peaks. Drive to Prijepolje and when dressed in neoprene rafting costumes and instructed by rafting instructors start of 25 km long Rafting on Lim River down the Kumanica Gorge. Rafting on Lim River is excellent for raising the adrenaline level making most exclusive joy for adventure seekers passing by the Kumanica and Camil’s creeks more than 20 m high. Water jumps meandering through incredible cascades over the wild toboggans and dangerous whirls overcoming the levels of more than 1,5m from where you are totally wet and excited. Stop-over by the river point close to Kumanica Monastery to discover the particular spiritual retreat on the spectacular rock formations. The canyon has amazing rock architecture that is narrow in parts and eventually opens out to Brodarevo plateau where delicious lunch is served, to relax and collect the new energy looking forward to the feeling the thrill of jumping into clear green rock pools of Lim River. Time at leisure and exposure in the sunny river valley accompanied with guitar music entertainment until transfer to the railway station in Prijepolje. Train departure at 11,00 p.m. and night train ride with organic brunch.

Day 3

Early morning arrival to Belgrade/Novi Sad and end of program/services.

Included : return train ticket /2.class seat/ Novi Sad-Prijepolje-Novi Sad, mini coach/van transportation to the program locations, welcome branch, Uvac Canyon exploration and photo-shooting, boat ride on Zlatar Lake, visit of Mileseva Monastery and lunch, lodging in home stays by Kamena Gora hosts serving organic meals on half-board basis, rafting on Lim river in boats of capacity of 6 – 8 persons equipped with the safest neoprene equipment/accessories to cover all water conditions and skills including dry bags, professional rafting logistics and rafting instructors who have you on a belay during rafting and at any other time you feel anxious in order to complete the most enjoyable and exciting adventure, visit of Kumanica Monastery, organic lunch in nature environment on the bank Lim river, branch on train.
