Radosavljevic Wine Cellars and accommodation Rogljevo village

The Rogljevačke pivnice – the Rogljevo Wineries are related to one of the most popular tourist destinations in East Serbia located in Negotin Municipality. From the center of town of Negotin the Rogljevačke Pivnice – Rogljevo Wineries are only 18 km away, from the border crossing of Mokranje – Bregovo with Bulgaria 12 km, while from the village of Rogljevo – only 500 meters. Rogljevačke pivnice – Rogljevo Wineries are positioned in intact natural environment, on the slopes of the Timor River banks, in the widely famous wine region. It is recorded that right in this area the Romans and the Old Slavs had grown for centuries the most quality grapes. The Rogljevačke pivnice – Rogljevo Winers are by tradition very old, but the 19th century was the time of the intense development and building of this wine settlement of wine cellars of Rogljevo village when there were some 400 structures, stone houses or wine cellars. Today in this village area remain only some 150 wine cellars of which numerous are in pitiful state, but are regarded as  witnesses of time and come as unique ethnographic, historical and cultural complexes of extraordinary significance. In the last decade of the 20th century there were some dozen of old wine cellars reconstructed and rebuilt in Rogljevacke pivnice – Rogljevo Wineries, with new vineyards planted in the close vicinity. Trend of revitalisation of the Rogljevo Wineries – the Rogljevačke pivnice continues also in the beginning of the new millennia, so there are more unlocked and rebuilt wine cellars as guarantee that more and more people turn towards keeping wine growing traditions and wine making in Krajina area. The new plantations of modern grape varieties announce time of production of high quality wines along traditional technologies that conveys from generation to generation. The authentic wine varieties are grown in the Rogljevo Wineries today which best explains dedication and persistence of locals in grape growing and wine production. ‘Wine is the light of Sun, kept in water’.

Respecting traditions of their ancestors who settled in the Timok Krajina area in the 17th century during the Great Serbian Migration, the Radosavljević family is for several decades dedicated and serious in development of wine and tourist offers in the area of Rogljevo Wineries – the Rogljevačke pivnice,  in which they interwoven history and tradition. The first wine cellar of the Radosavljevićs was built in the 17th century and makes and basis of development of the reputable and renowned Radosavljevic rural tourist household, set in the center of the Krajina vineyards on the sunny slopes of the Timok River shores. This household today possesses some twenty wine cellars that were band restored for successful tourist and rural purposes. Some of wine cellars are turned into lodging facilities with taverns while some into wine houses and two come as museums of closed type.
Besides functional and rustic accommodation capacities, the Radosavljević rural tourist household  organises for its guests visits to landmarks and attractions in the area, with priority given to introduction of structures of the own complex, museums and wine cellars where wine and rakija /brandy/ tasting is organised /all prepared along traditional technologies/. Wines and rakijas /brandies/ of the Radosavljević Winery come regularly with rich traditional festivities and business meals in taverns of this rural complex. ‘Regardless where you are ahead, regardless the time, always bring your Sun with you’.

The Radosavljevic Rural Tourist and Wine Household in Rogljevačke pivnice hamlet of the Rogljevo village enables visitors to enjoy in exploration of true museum collections – two indoor museums in restored wine cellars and the third museum in open – under the sky. The first museum keeps historical items of several civilisations, starting from the Bronze age, to Roman times and the Byzantine Empire, till the modern times. There are exposed numerous artifacts, weapons and armoury that the Radosavljevićs collected for years, bought from the area for the Rogljevo Museum, among which there are items found by themselves while searching for historical roots of this place where their ancestors settled nearly 4 centuries ago.

The second Museum of the Radosavljevic complex is especially attractive and highly interesting for its natural items of exposed mammoth bones and sculls of prehistorical cattle. Visitors of the Radosavljevic rural and wine tourist complex in Rogljevo Wineries are especially pleased with items exposed in the third open air museum. This space under the sky is entirely appointed with tools and vessels for delivery, production and keeping wine so here is possible to attend the uniquely organised presentation of so-called Rogljevo grape harvest, along with numerous traditional customs that are part of it.

Three wine cellars of the Radosavljevic Rural tourist Household are entirely refurbished into wineries. The first winery has function of production and keeping wines, the second one is aimed for production and keeping of rakijas /brandies/, while the third one is the Archive Winery. The Archive Winery keeps old, bottled and waxed wines with the youngest wine of the Radosavljevic complex that is 7 years old.

Out of some twenty wine cellars within the rural tourist household of Radosavljević Family, the three wine cellars are turned into smoke-free accommodation units – the Ljuba’s wine Cellar, the Ljuba’s log and the Grandfather’s wine cellar with total of 30 beds. Rooms come with bathrooms with shower and view to the nicely arranged yard, and are appointed in simple rural – rustic traditional style by using natural construction materials /wood and stone/ and fully adjusted to needs and standards of modern visitors /laminate floors with rugs and floor coverings, large king size beds, extendable arm chairs …/

Besides accommodation offer in healthy environment and natural and wine ambiance, visitors of the Radosavljevic rural tourist complex in Rogljevacke Pivnice – Rogljevo Wineries are served with extraordinary tasty homemade food and the highest quality rakijas /brandies/ and wines. As part of the accommodation units there are taverns – the smaller one with 30 seats and the large one with 150 seats. Taverns of the Radosavljevic rural tourist household in Rogljevo Wineries are perfectly suitable for rakija /brandy/and wine tasting, various wine-style and other types of festivities, parties and celebrations for simultaneous dining of larger number of visitors. The menu contains various and nearly forgotten specialities of traditional rural food, prepared from fresh, locally grown and healthy ingredients.
