Povlen Mountain

Povlen Mountain is the largest Mountain in Podrinje – Valjevo mountain chain. Along Povlen Mountain one can see large number of farmers’ cottages. Povlen Mountain consists of two parts – Veliki Povlen “Big Povlen” (1271 meters ) and Mali Povlen ” Small Povlen” ( 1450 meters ) – the highest peak. Both Povlen Mountains lie north-west of Valjevo, and west of Magleš and Bukovo.

Dense forests and deep river canyons involuntarily leak narrow and winding roads that lead to small hamlets hidden under the trees. Like saddle between historical rivers of Drina and Kolubara, as a crossroad between paved road Valjevo-Užice rises Debelo Brdo hill an ethno-tourist center. Plenty of old monuments and spiritual monasteries (Ćelije, Lelić, Pustinja…) are located nearby the Povlen Mountain.
