Petnica Pecina Cave
Petnica Pecina Cave /Petnicka Pecina/ is situated in the western part of Serbia, 7,5 km from the town of Valjevo, at the foot of a high limestone cliff. Petnica Pecina Cave is 500 meters long and features several lost rivers. Petnica Cave /Petnička Pecina Cave/ is a resurgence and the strong spring that flows out of is called the Banja. Petnicka Pecina Cave was inhabited by the Paleolithic man and it contains a rich archaeological deposit with the remains of Ice Age fauna. The first excavations in Petnica Pecina Cave were carried out over a century ago, but it still attracts numerous cavers and nature explorers.
