The story of the first Belgrade and Yugoslav Chocolate Factory starts in the Dorcol district of Belgrade in the second half of the 19th century when two enterprising Tsintsar/Aromunian brothers Nikola and Konstantin Sonda decided to move from Macedonia to Belgrade which was at that time truly promising town for expanding their already well organized trade business.
There at the Cara Dusana street of Belgrade Sonda brothers have established the Sonda Chocolate Factory which successfully produced cocoa, chocolate and candies and during time experienced great business growth and successes by production of cookies, yeast and artificial ice, beside well developed production of chocolate products.
The Sonda Chocolate Factory business story ended in 1941 in bombardment of Belgrade when the chocolate complex was destroyed and son Mihajlo got killed, after which the whole possessions of the Sonda Family were confiscated.
