The Municipality and settlement of Mali Idjos are positioned in the heart of Backa district of Vojvodina Province, along both banks of the Krivaja stream, on the half way from Subotica to Novi Sad, at the foot of the Telecka Plateau. The settlement of present Mali Idjos was first time mentioned in historical records in 1462 when the King Mattias Corvinus bestowed this area to his mother Elizabeth. The Municipality of Mali Idjos includes three settlements: Маli Idjos, Feketić and Lovćenac and covers 16900 hectares of agriculture soil of extraordinary fertility.
Population of the Mali Idjos Municipality is engaged in farming, husbandry, fruit and vegetables growing, viticulture and beekeeping with successful development of rural tourism which is recognized by original salash farms and farm houses. Majority of population of Mali Idjos is Hungarian. The Feketic village is famous for the autochtonous cherry variety which was called in the past the Feketic Black Cherry and thus today the village has tens of thousands of cherry trees and saplings cherishing this high quality fruit. In Feketic at the beginning of June is traditionally organized the „Dani feketićke višnje“ /Days of the Feketic Cherry/ event which is the popular village festivity. This colorful event attracts numerous visitors by its exhibitions of various sweets and products prepared from cherry – cakes, cookies, juices, preserves, jams, fruit jelly, rakija – brandy, wine, ….. and also by attractive cultural-artistic programs and activities – concerts, children carnival, exhibitions of painting and handwork, gastronomy, …. testifying on the lofty agricultural traditions and pride of the locals.
The Mali Idjos Municipality is easily accessible thanks to the International Corridor 10 direction Hungary which passes through the whole area. The larger towns of Vrbas and Bačka Topola are 12 km away from Mali Idjos, and Novi Sad and Subotica some 50 km, and Belgrade is 130 km away.
