Kuca Colovica Luxury Tourist complex with pool
Wonderfully reconstructed and luxury appointed traditional Farm House of the Kuća Čolovića is today luxurious rustic tourist complex of 4+ stars category in the tiny picturesque village of Mala Vrbica, 22 km from Kragujevac and 30 km away from Topola, and some 100 km south of Belgrade, on the gentle slopes of the beautiful Rudnik Mountain, in Šumadija – the heart of Serbia. Being the part of the large estate which covers nearly 150 hectares, the Traditional Farm House of the Kuća Čolovića reminds its visitors of the true “hacienda” and makes the perfect combination of the Serbian traditional lifestyle and the well-preserved customs and needs and wishes of a modern guest… The authentic historical complex of the old Serbian homestead is nowadays turned into a summer residence of the Ćurčić Family and spreads along three circular courtyards and contains vast row of highly comfortable amenities /open pool, sauna…./ but also numerous authentic structures, wooden logs, dairy houses, barns, granary, bakery, beehives shelves that are carefully preserved and kept in their original appearance and form the unique cultural monument that best represents the life style of a reputed and diligent Serbian family. The grand father Milisav of the prominent Colovic family started to extend the family estate and wealth by export of large quantities of dried plums, plum jam and rakia to Budapest at the end of the 19th century. Colovic Family possessed more than 100 hectares of land before the WWI, which was a large fortune at that time. This family used to live in a family cooperative with more than 30 members, on whose estate which spread on 150 hectares, used to work more than 120 peasants.
The Old House distinguishes itself most of the unique setting of the Čolovića House complex. It is the semi-wooden cottage built at the beginning of the 19th century, and contains one of the oldest and most authentic fireplaces in Serbia, along which the whole complex gained the status of the museum – the monument of culture, under the state protection. Opposite to the Old house there is the New house of the Colovic Family, built around 1900-ies, and fully reconstructed in 2010, which includes the exhibition part dedicated to historical period until the Second WW, with historical letters, documents, Declaration of king Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, many trophies of Milisav Čolović, decorations, clothes items, advertisement leaflets from the early 20th century, rare furniture pieces from the end of the 19th century. Among the exhibited items there are photos of the grand-grand father of the Čolović brothers from 1865, work of the famous Anastas Jovanović, whose copy is kept at the Archive of the National Museum in Belgrade and is regarded as one of the oldest portraits preserved until the present. There is here also the monumental oil painting of the “Srpska gernika” (Serbian Guernica, 240×180) painted by Jose Vasconcellos (who lives and works in Denmark now) and dedicated his artwork to Serbia and the Čolović Family.
Part of the ground floor of the New House of the Kuca Colovica complex, and the first floor and the attic has been refurbished into the luxury accommodation space which makes extraordinary pleasant facility. There are 5 luxury apartments and a four-bed room with comfortable private bathrooms with showers of the Kuca Colovica accommodation, which are uniquely designed by combination of the stylish antique furniture and the most modern amenities which provide comfortable stay – each bedroom features LCD TV, satellite channels, WiFi Internet, phone, in-room safe…. Every room is equipped with the best quality bedclothes, soft towels, bathrobes and slippers. Three spacious rooms in the ground floor of the Kuca Colovica complex have been harmonically turned into the living room, from where spreads view through the glass veranda to the Old House and the porch with barbecue. The ground floor contains the wonderful loggia and the large choice of the best quality domestic and foreign alcoholic and fresh beverages. Central and floor heating, supported with 2 original Franklin furnaces provide visitors of the Kuca Colovica complex very pleasant and comfortable stay in winter time.
The Kuća Čolovića features also amenities for pleasant holidays throughout the year, especially in summer – the sauna, mini gym, table tennis, and the outdoor pool 9 x 4.5m x 1.6m, equipped with swimming against the stream device and a Jacuzzi massage. During their holidays here guests have at their disposal bikes to ride along the beautiful picturesque surroundings while enjoying the fresh air and wonderful environment. Warm hearten hosts prepare food as per wishes of their guests, from the rustic breakfast to the international dishes, and recommend the unavoidable Specialty of the House – lamb cooked under the pot on the oldest preserved fireplace in this region of Serbia. During their stay at the Kuca Colovica estate, besides enjoyment in the wonderfully intact and eco natural environment, visitors enjoy in numerous well preserved authentic customs andamenities and in active participation in experiencing the rich cultural heritage – full reconstruction of the Serbian Wedding Ceremony or preparation of traditional food from fresh and healthy produce grown in own garden and farm. Here visitors are welcome to prepare and are served with gibanitza -cheese pie-, bannock – homemade bread, sarma, kaymak, cheese, finest quince brandy, slatko and jam and the exciting culinary courses of traditional sweets and original pickled salads – “zimnica”… Cordial and friendly hosts are always happy to assist in organization of the authentic Serbian Wedding Party, which is one of our special tourist packages and pride, and in August 2014 excited the wedding couple – Irina and Alexander and their guests, who wanted to experience well preserved Serbian customs. We danced Serbian kolo, conducted by the members of the best folklore choreographers and performers of the Lola Ensemble, played flute and accordion with help or music virtuoso Milinko and Miki, sang old Serbian songs, dressed traditional costumes, prepared homemade bread and gibanitza, shot apple from the highest plum tree in the yard, throw sieve to the top of the roof and enjoyed in the rich Serbian heritage ! Our wedding couple says that we provided them one of the most beautiful days in their life time !
Guests who spend their vacations at the Kuca Čolovica Traditional Farm House indulge in various sport-recreation-dietetic treatments which greatly contribute to the health improvement and entire invigoration, refreshment and rejuvenation of the body and soul – swimming, sauna, outdoor yoga, cycling, horse back riding, hiking. Thanks to the beautiful well preserved Medieval Monasteries of Vraćevšnica, Voljavča and Drača and the Royal Mausoleum of Karadjordjevic Family with Saint George Church located nearby, visitors are invited and strongly recommended to explore spiritual and cultural assets of Serbia.
