The legend has it that the church dedicated to Saint Lucas has been built in the 7th century and makes one of the earliest churches in this area. In the closest surroundings of the Saint Lucas church is the space defined as the significant archaeological locality from the Illyric and the Roman historical periods. The ancient annals record that on the place of the present Saint Lucas church used to be a Benedictine Monastery although it is presumed that on this spot previously was an Illyric structure. Some sources prove that on this place used to be a small structure with gabled bell tower and fresco decorated walls. The Church of Saint Lucas is one nave structure with semi-circular apse in the east and a high front rectangular base belfry on the west which ends by the eight-sided dome. The Saint Lucas church in Gošići village has been constructed from cut rubble stone, and vaulted with semi-circled vault, while the floor is covered with stone slabs. The church of Saint Lucas was extended in reconstruction carried out in 1776 and until the middle of the 19th century was fresco painted. The Church of Saint Lucas in Gošići village is monument of culture and important example of sacral architecture under state protection since 1976.
