Divčibare makes tourist mountainous center of Serbia at the elevation of 980 meters, located on the Maljen Mountain in West Serbia. Divcibare is actually a mountainous plateau in the central part of the Maljen Mountain, between the peaks of Kraljev sto (1104 m), Crni vrh (1098 m), Paljbe (1051 m), Golubac (1044 m) and Veliko brdo (1061 m). This was first time noticed in the beginning of the 19th century by Prince Miloš Obrenović who bought the whole area of Divcibare from the Turkish sultan and started construction of lords’ logs. The tradition has it that Divcibare or the “devojačke bare” / girls’ ponds/ got its name by the young shepherd girl who got drowned in impetuous river of Crna Kamenica which flows through the center of the present settlement and this popular mountainous tourist center of Serbia.
The climate of Divčibare is pleasant, moderate continental with dry summers and much precipitation in winters.
