Gela village is perched high in the tiny village of the Rhodope mountain range of the Perelik Mountains, and is home to the last 30 inhabitants of the average age of 70. Young people long ago abandoned working in the fields, which are still cultivated by horse and plough, for cities such as the capital, Sofia, in search of better-paid jobs and careers. The Gela village is surrounded with wonderful mountain peaks of Mount Malak Perelik (2147 m), Mt Shilestata Chuka (2180 m), Orpheus peak (2188 m) and Mt Chaeva Chuka (1922 m) which probably contribute to inexhaustible source of myths and legends.
Villa Gela is located in the dramatic Rhodope Mountains in an intensely private location at the end of a winding no-through road. The Gela chalet spans over 1000 square meters of sophisticated living space over four floors and unquestionably provides the most luxurious mountain rental conditions in Eastern Europe. The Villa Gela features six luxuriously arranged double bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, fireplace and fabulous views of the mountains or garden, five with the sitting space. Every room of the Gela Villa features a fireplace and panoramic views of the magic pine-forested valleys below and provides maximum of comfort to suit various profiles of customers. Two of the bedrooms can be configured as family rooms. One of the bedrooms have baths next to the windows for taking in the views and three bedrooms have separate shower cubicles.
The main living area of the Villa Gela in Rhodopes is open-plan with a sitting area composed around a large wood burning fireplace and a large dining table that can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests. Light pours into the living room through eight large French windows that open out onto a spacious terrace with an outdoor dining area with 280 degree views over the surrounding mountains and stunning countryside where many guests choose to spend long afternoons enjoying wines and local cuisine. There is also an outdoor seating area around a fire-pit for evening drinks and colder days. The terrace also features a Jacuzzi which can comfortably seat eight.
In the Gela Villa in Rhodopes there is a professionally equipped kitchen from which the in-house chefs prepares food. Villa Gela also has a wood-paneled library with a selection of books, a workstation and poker table, located on the ground level near to the living room. Villa Gela has an exceptional spa with a 10-meter indoor jet swimming pool, a steam room, a gym with free-weights and two showers. There is also a massage area for relaxing therapies and treatments which can be organized in-house. A combination of the fresh mountain air and aching limbs from hiking through the foothills of Mount Orpheus through meadows of wild orchids and astonishingly pretty butterflies guarantees a good night’s sleep.
