Rose is small picturesque fishing village on the north coast of the peninsula Lustice, at the entrance of the Boka Bay, opposite Herceg Novi, Rose is a typical Mediterranean fishermen place with homes that are tight and lined up in front of dock. Rose used to be an ancient Greek colony of Punto Roza founded by the Saracens (as in the Middle Ages, Europeans called Arabs), destroyed in 867, since when it failed to regain its previously fame. Significance of Rose is mentioned in the records of the Byzantine Emperor Constantine Porphyrogenitus in 841. Thanks to its position protected from the winds, Rose in the past often served as a refuge for sailing boats, and during its long history it hosted a Customs and Port authorities and quarantine for sailors who came to the Bay. Rose was mostly built in the 17th and 18th century, during the golden and the most prosperous age of the Boka maritime, when number of Lustica sailing ships sailed the Mediterranean and other seas of the world. In Rose there is the Church of St. Assumption, built in 1783 by the Venetian prince Antonio Alberto, and the Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity where famous Boka sailors were buried. Otherwise, the entire Rose and peninsula, burdened with the archaeological excavation, a particularly interesting hydro excavations, where they found cannon cannonballs, anchors, ceramics, as well as an old Spanish ship ‘the beginning of the sixteenth century, which has seen shipwreck ceramics transporting the Bosnian dynasty. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire Rose was in customs with fortress Forticom because Rose was one the first settlements of the Bay of Kotor.
