DJERDAP NATIONAL PARK AND THE IRON GATE – THE CRADLE OF CIVILIZATIONS

SILVER LAKE – GOLUBAC FORTRESS – DJERDAP NATIONAL PARK – RAJKOVA PECINA CAVE – LEPENSKI VIR ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE – VRATNA MONASTERY – VRATNA STONE BRIDGES – CRNAJKA VILLAGE – VIMINACIUM ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE

Day 1. Morning departure from Belgrade and drive to the Silver Lake. Fish lunch. Drive on along the Danube course up to the Golubac Fortress an tour of one of the most beautiful fortresses on the Danube. Photo-shooting. Entrance to the Djerdap National Park and drive along one of the most thrilling parts of the Danube river course. Stop over by the point to approach the Danube River and boat ride /apr. 3 km/ up to the Vlasac archaeological site. Sightseeing of Vlasac, one of the oldest evidence on civilizations dating back 10000 years ago. Drive on to Donji Milanovac and accommodation in rural household. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 2. After breakfast full-day excursion through the intact nature of the Djerdap National Park and its most amazing and significant attractions. Drive up to the starting point of walking tail that climbs up for about 2 km to the Kovilovo observation point from where spreads beautiful view. Walk through the forest with rangers and local guide logistics. Return walk to the starting point of walk and drive to Majdanpek. Tour or Rajkova pecina Cave /Rajko’s Cave/. Outdoor lunch in front of the Entrance to the Rajko’s Cave. Early afternoon return to Donji Milanovac and walk through the Canyon of Boljetinska Reka /Boljetin River Canyon/ comprising rocky cliffs that provide outstanding experience to climbers. Walk through the intact nature of the Djerdap National Park up to the Lepenski Vir archaeological site /total walk of apr. 3 km/. Tour of the Lepenski Vir spectacular archaeological site. Return to Donji Milanovac. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 3. After breakfast full day excursion. Drive to the starting point of ascend to the Ploce observation point. Intense walk through the heart of Djerdap National Park /ca 3 km/. Observation of majestic Veliki Kazan /Great Basin of the Danube/. Outdoor lunch. Intense 2 hours walk up to the Veliki Strbac peak /768 m a.s.l./ which provides memorable panorama on the Djerdap Iron Gate. Watching endemic plants and rare animals in their natural habitat /white-tailed eagle, lynx, chamoix…/ Late afternoon return to Ploce plateau and refreshment. Descent through the forest /apr 2,6 km/ to the main road and transfer to Donji Milanovac. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 4. After breakfast full-day excursion to Vratna Monastery and Vratna natural stone bridges. Drive to Vratna Monastery and sightseeing. Intense walk up to the mystical natural Stone Bridges of Vratna. Drive to Crnajka village and traditional lunch. Folklore performance. Afternoon return to Donji Milanovac. Traditional dinner, overnight.

Day 5. After breakfast farewell speech of the Djerdap National Park representatives. Short lecture about the rare flora and fauna of Djerdap National Park and film projection /about 30 minutes/. Drive along the Danube to Viminacium, famous Roman archaeological site. Sightseeing. “Roman lunch”. Departure to Belgrade with evening arrival and end of program.
