Deli Jovan Mountain

Deli Jovan is the mountain in the south-eastern Serbia with predominantly north-south orientation. Although the ridge is narrow, peaks of Deli Jovan Mountain are rounded and give an impression of a string of garlands. Deli Jovan Mountain belongs to the eastern zone of the younger mountains of the Carpatho-Balcan Mountain System, formed during the Alpine orogeny. The boundaries of the Deli Jovan Mountain area range from Plavna in the north to Tilva in the south. To the east, boundary of Deli Jovan Mt passes along Sikola-Popovica-Plavna and in the west the boundary is the line from Veliki Goli Krs /1037 meters/ to Crni Vrh /1136 meters which is the highest peak of Deli Jovan Mountain/. The region of Deli Jovan Mountain has a transitive sub-continental-continental climate.

The dominant habitat types of Deli Jovan Mountain are matured broad-leaved woodland. Deli Jovan Mountain is almost entirely covered with hundred years old oak and beech forests with some pinewoods at the very north and the south of the mountain. It is the vast surface of forests through which you can walk all the day and night /with compass/ to experience its old trees as from the epic fictions and fairy-tale. On two highest peaks of Deli Jovan Mountain there are TV and telecommunications towers while in the south-eastern part of the mountain there is hunting ground rich in wild game. 67 butterfly species have been recorded but the potential butterfly diversity is higher. In Deli Jovan Mountain area there are no significant agricultural activities or intensive grazing, what provides conditions for invigorating vacations and from where comes the best honey we have ever tasted and truly love since !
