Day 1  Belgrade – Ovcar Kablar Gorge hike – Lopatnica village near Bogutovac village

Kablar Mountain is one of the classic hikes in Serbia. The hiking tour starts with a morning pick up /08,30-09,00/ from your Belgrade accommodation. Drive to the Kablar Mountain in Central-Western Serbia /max.2 hrs/, toilet-refreshment breaks on the way.

Hike of total 13.7 km starts from the Ovcar Banja Spa and takes you through the protected area of Outstanding Natural Landscape Ovčar – Kablar gorge“, the place where Zapadna Morava River has cut the unique gorge through the massifs of those two mountains. Due to the presence of a large number of bird species, this area has been designated as an Internationally Important Bird Area – IBA and is also part of the EMERALD Network. Take a deep breath of the fresh air in the pristine nature and listen to the silence at the Holy Mountain. Circular path is taking us to the highest peak (889 m) where the beautiful viewpoint overlooks the Sumadija region and meanders of Zapadna Morava River. Picnic lunch on top of the mountain or in homemade lunch the closest rural tourist household from where spreads magic view to the meanders of Zapadna Morava River. Optional tour to one of 13 active monasteries in the area for which it is called the Serbian Mount Athos. After hike, we will visit nearby Ovcar Banja Spa to enjoy and relax in the indoor swimming pool with thermal water. Transfer to Bogutovac village for a delicious dinner and overnight in nicely appointed Bogut rural tourist household-tourist complex or the Villa Del Rey in Lopatnica village.

Day 2  Bogutovac village – Studenica Monastery – Cemerno village hike – Rudno village

Morning transfer to Studenica Monastery – one of the oldest and the most significant monasteries of Serbia. Visit to the medieval royal complex under UNESCO protection including main church of the Holy Virgin and the Kings church. Short ride along Studenica River to the start of 10km-hiking trail. Visit of magnificent masterpiece of medieval architecture – The Hermitage of Saint Sava from the early 13th century. Round trail goes through the oak and beech forests of Cemerno Mountain and passes through remote village. Transfer to beautiful Rudno village for tasty dinner and overnight in comfortable and nicely appointed traditional wooden logs of the rural tourist household.

Day 3  Rudno village – Golija Mountain hike – Belgrade

Traditional Serbian mountain breakfast. The hike starts from our accommodation and takes us to the Izubra River Canyon which hides amazing waterfalls. The entire trail of some 16,5 km includes portions of the oldest Biosphere Reserve in Serbia under UNESCO protection – the wonderful and wild Golija Mountain. We make stop over for a tasty lunch in traditional Serbian household. Possibility to shorten the hike with transfer, which continues further to Belgrade. Evening arrival and end of program.

Important info:

  • Hiking distances and itinerary could be changed upon clients’ request;
  • All participants must thoroughly read and sign our Acknowledgement of Risk form before arrival. If you are bringing a minor child that is not your own, you must arrange the form to be read and signed by a parent or legal guardian of the minor child. A separate Acknowledgement of Risk form is required for each participant.
  • A qualified and experienced UIAA Mountain Leader provided with Serbian license and comprehensive knowledge on trails. If the group is bigger than 8-10 people and does not have their Tour Leader – UIAA or UIMLA Mountain qualified, than second guide must be provided with an extra charge.

Do not forget to bring: hiking boots and an extra pair of shoes, windproof jacket and rain gear, long pants, a small headlamp, 30-50L backpack, water bottle (min. 1l), sunglasses, sun cream, a hat, hiking poles, swimsuit, camera, personal toiletries, valid passport and a smile
