The construction of the structure in the very heart of Gjirocaster and its historical core with the old bazaar which today houses the prestigious Argjiro Hotel, had started in 1885 as a home of the prominent Gjirocaster family and ended in 1891. Around 1930 one part of the structure was turned into the “Savoia Hotel“, one of the most reputed hotels in Albania and Gjirocaster area at that time, while the other part of this beautiful structure was rented in 1941 by “Bank of Napoli”. Since around 1960 the Argjiro Hotel in Gjirocaster was state owned and run by communists until 2002, during which period the structure ended in pitiful conditions, nearly ruined.
The new dedicated and socially responsible owners who privatized the famous structure in the very historical core of Gjirocaster started a thorough reconstruction, combining in perfect harmony only natural materials of stone and wood and wrought iron, which took them 5 years to regain and exceed the functionality and comfort with related refined amenities of the original hotel. In August 2016 the Argjiro Hotel in Gjirocaster opened its doors for guests, operated with modern and comfortable amenities and excellent services but with the same cordial hospitality that this reputed facility had in the past.
