Mecavnik Wooden Town and Sargan Eight Train
"Šargan Eight" Rail is railway section that connects Western Serbia and Eastern Bosnia and West Morava and Drina Valleys. Sargan Eight was built in 1925. In 13.5 kilometers from Šargan to Mokra Gora station the railway climbs the altitude difference of 450 meters. The Sargan train route of the rail is remarkable and has shape of digit "eight". To pass distance from Šargan to Mokra Gora train goes over 5 bridges and 20 tunnels. The railway track is narrow- only 0.76 meters. In 1974. the railway traffic was suspended. After reconstruction works in 1999 trains started to operate again but this time as tourist attraction. Famous Film Director Emir Kusturica founded a unique "Wooden-Town" made from the coniferous wood from Tara, Zlatibor and Sargan Mountains on top of the Mecavnik Hill, where his film "Life is miracle" was directed. The entire tourist complex and Film academy and traditional settlement of the Drvengrad-Kustendorf-Mecavnik is magically designed with plenty of authenticities to testify the rich cultural features from Western Serbia. Mecavnik Drvengrad-Kustendorf consists of traditional mountain cottages surrounded by the tranquil Church, cinema, restaurants, pastry-shop, library, swimming pool, sport-hall, sport grounds and ski-path that together with the nearby "Sargan Eight" narrow-gouge railroad form one of the most popular tourist attraction in Serbia.
