"Prelo" Singing Group
"Prelo" Singing Group is authentic, fundamental folklore singing group that gathers children of 8 til 18 years age with the aim of promoting and reviving folklore songs and the Serbian tradition.
"Prelo" Singing Group exists two years during which it was an integral part of the cultural-artistic ensembles. With the growth of interest and involvement of larger number of children there was a need of establishing the independent signing team, which is engaged in children education in actualization of ancient periods by the folklore songs, dramatization of habits and customs and presentations of the way of life of the past times.... The initiative motive to establish this group which today numbers 40 members with continual growth tendency and for work in the music folklore field came primarily from the fact that young generations lack /or in some cases absolutely miss/ folklore tradition of its people, and its wealth of forms and expressions, so they loose in that way cay contact with their past, and simultaneously with the future. Another aim to establish the "Prelo" Singing group is to deflect the imposed "newly-composed" music of non-educational style as well as need of knowledge on the Serbian folkloric inheritance and music, which is sometimes initiated by children themselves. This fundamental traditional-singing group performs folk song in traditional way in terms of both old and new rural singing, accomplishing it by narrative utterances, customs and habits of the Serb population, exposing its modern features in the modern arrangements on numerous performances, concerts and festivals.
