Host whom we consider – the owners of the House on the Griffin Cliff in Nova Varos live exactly at the griffon vulture cliff above the Uvac River Canyon and are truly dedicated to their guests’ joy and harsh nature affects.

The House providing tourist services is the genuine mountain home-stay built by highlanders devoted to the nature and its invigorating and rough characteristics of stone rocks and wood covering, at the altitude of over 1200 meters, to resist from heavy show, winds or strong sunny rays. This is typical household of West Serbia with domestic animals – cows, sheep and chicken, which enables production of extraordinary supplies and fantastic homemade food – cheese, kaymak, milk, buck-wheat, smoked meat, natural honey, juices and brandy… Visitors say that buck-wheat pie prepared by host Ljubinka is the best ever, besides her unique hospitality. During cold winters the whole area becomes the challenge even for the bravest visitors when the snow-cover is blended with the horizon. Nearby there are numerous griffin vultures nests situated on the descent cliffs overlooking the remarkable Uvac canyon justifying pure preserved nature with its unique signs : clear water springs, fresh air, peaceful tranquility of the nature, only randomly disturbed by some insects or the sounds of griffin vulture’s wings when exploring the heights. Accommodation capacity : 3 simple double rooms with shared bathroom and a kitchen/dining room. Depending on the period of stay visitors can enjoy taking walks through spacious meadows and orchards of picturesque Zlatar and Murtenica Mountains, picking up medicinal herbs and mushrooms, adrenaline sports in the Uvac canyon, observing natural habitats of griffin vultures, handcrafts from past times of the local highlanders etc. Some guests are fond of taking culinary courses conducted by the diligent host Ljubinka whose buck-wheat cheese pie is simply unbeatable ! This rural household is 320 km to the southwest away from Belgrade by Ibar road /Ibar magistrala/.

Here is comment of guests who stayed at this rural household in October 2016 :

Hi to Ivanka and her team, Just wanted to say thanks so much for arranging our stay, back in October, it was perfect. Ljunbinka and Mr Mico are great, made us feel like part of the family, fed us and kept us warm. It is amazing where they live, so glad we stayed there, the vultures and country are special. Please find attached a picture of us all together, it’s a lovely one.

Ljubinka and I had cuddles and kisses when we left, it was lovely. We felt comfortable and part of their world, so lucky to have been able to stay there, it is an amazing part of the world. Kind regards, Hvala hvala hvala! Regards, Jude

Here are some impressions of guests who stayed in the House on the Griffin Vulture Cliff in 2014:

… “We have just come back from our holidays. We have really enjoyed very much staying in rural households. We have enjoyed very much our stay in Gujamicic hamlet. It was of course less comfortable, maybe one more shower will be good (but it is cheaper), anyway we were staying with very nice people and the place is really great. You just have to walk a little and you can see the eagles and the Uvac. Ljubinka organized for all of us a day trip by boat on the Uvac which was very very great. Uvac nature reserve is worth seeing. She also cooks very well and very healthy and we tasted buckwheat specialties.

Staying in these households, we were able to meet and enjoy staying with Serbian people. It is the best way to travel and it is better to spend some days there. The hospitality is always wonderful; when you leave, you are leaving friends…..”
