Hadži-Prodanova Pecina Cave is named after Hadži - Prodan, the duke of Karadjordje /the leader of the First Serbian Uprising/ who was hiding soldiers in this cave during the Serbian rebellion lead by him against the Turkish occupation in the 19th century.
Mermerna Pecina Cave /Marble Cave/ is situated in the village of Donje Gadimje, about 20km south of Prishtina and some 360 km from Belgrade, on the eastern side of the Kosovo Valley, in the southern part of Serbia. The Marble Cave got its name after the metamorphosed limestone of which it was formed. The surrounding was composed basically of the old Paleozoic marbles that can be found only at eastern edges of the Kosovo Valley. These marbles are covered with volcanic lava dating back from the time of formation of the Kosovo Valley.
