Avala is mountain located 17 km south-east from Belgrade on the road to Kragujevac. The altitude of Avala Mt is 511 meters above see level so those 11 meters qualify it for Mountain which is the lowest of the mountains descending from central Serbia towards Belgrade. Avala Mountain is wooded by self-planted trees and some parts of it is covered with pine forests. The name "avala" is oriental origin and comes from the Arabic word "havala" what means "wonderful observation - viewing point" or the place from where the panorama spreads.
Beljanica Mountain divides Homolje and Resava regions in Eastern Serbia with its 100 meters high ranges. The highest peak is 1339 meters high. The karst feature of Beljanica Mountain caused numerous caves and caverns. The central plateau is mostly without vegetation while slopes of Beljanica Mountain are covered with oak and beech forests that sometimes make true rain-forests.

Kopaonik (known as the Silver mountain, named by Roman, Venetian, and Turkish sources) is the biggest mountain massif in Serbia which is spread from northwest to southeast of Serbia along 75km, and is 40 km wide in its middle part. Part of its surface is protected zone proclaimed Kopaonik National Park, comprising abundance of intact nature and beautiful landscape, being the biggest and most important ski center in Serbia. Its highest peak is Pancicev vrh /Pancic's Peak/ with 2017m altitude where there is the Mausoleum of well-known Serbian naturalist Josif Pancic. Whole mountain massif is named by huge mineral wealth which was exploited since the Middle ages.
