Under the slogan "CREATE future events in Serbia together", on the professional conference held at the beginning of December 2008, gathered representatives of the Serbian government responsible for tourism and cultural events, the Tourist Organization of Serbia, and other tourist organizations by location, event organizers, representatives of tourist agencies, carriers, producers, souvenir shops, hotelier and caterers, as well as prominent experts, professors, representatives of SANU and many other tourist workers.
In the Tourist High School in Belgrade the third meeting of events organizers was held by the establishment of the Serbian newspapers and edition "The guide through the tourist events". This gathering was officially opened by MRS Milanka Cvetkovic, the managing Director and Editor in Chief of the newspapers.
This-year meeting experienced high attendance and was much better organized in comparison with previous events, by opinion of participants who took part, with the tendency to become traditional.
The best celebrated chosen participants in various professional sectors were awarded the prizes and certificates..... PANACOMP Travel from Novi Sad was declared the best Travel agency amongst travel agencies engaged in tourist events in Serbia.
August 2008.
..."Guca is a small, pretty place in central Serbia, its population running to less than 3,000 people. Yet across the last weekend of August the town swells and damn near explodes with people and music. Hundreds of brass bands from across Serbia turn up to play and party as Guca hosts the annual brass band competition. Winning orchestras "as they refer to themselves" pick up such awards as Best Orchestra and, most fabulously, the Golden Trumpet.
Elimination heats earlier in the year mean only a few dozen bands get to compete. All the other bands arriving in Guca are there to join in the party and raise baksheesh (tips) as they play in the streets and restaurants, blasting wild, raw Balkan funk all day and night.
Back in the 1990s ravers would describe a good party as "mental". Guca is not mental. Uh-uh. Guca is insane. Music explodes across the town, unrelentingly, unrepeatably, such levels of noise that it could almost be compared to a form of sonic warfare. Yet there's no terror, no violence, only a very spirited, very Slavic celebration that finds the town overrun with revellers, its streets swimming in beer, the atmosphere bacchanal. It's the biggest three day musical celebration in the Balkans. To the musicians who participate here Guca is the high summit of Balkan brass. To the quarter million Serbs who turn up Guca is, quite simply, the wildest party of the summer. For Serbs, Gypsy brass bands are the new rock'n'roll...."
